Keep items that you plan to replace until you have purchased a replacement.  This ensures that you allocate a space to a needed item.

EVALUATE the space you have in the new home for storing all the items that you decide to keep.  If you have the storage place in mind as you sort
through your boxes you will be able to determine if you have the room to keep them.

Try not to guilt yourself into keeping items that were given to you as gifts.  Remember that gifts are meant to make you happy.

To make the best use of your space HTS suggests following these rules of organizing:

1
. Group like items together.
2. Store items close to where you will use the item.  This makes it easier to find and also to put away after using the item.
3. Store items most often used in the most accessible spaces - easy to reach shelves and cabinets.  Save the higher shelves and storage areas for
those items you use only once in a while.
4.  Purchase storage containers ONLY after you have sorted and purged your possessions.  This will prevent over buying containers you don't need.

We all have a tendency to accumulate more possessions than we need or use but have a hard time parting with them.
Try to remember that your
space has value, as it is limited.
Weigh the value of your space against the desire to keep items you no longer use or need just because you spent
money on them.

Physical clutter leads to mental clutter and stress.  Organization reduces stress and increases energy.
